How much help will this be Perry: Ranger teams to go to Texas-Mexico border? Conservatives make Texas sound like a conservative stronghold with little to no liberalism, bu. Are you aware that 44% of Texas voted fo. Obama? Do you believe when day laborers are gathered in front of businesses, they chase away customers? If you owned a business, would you want these illegal aliens gathered in front of your business?##########################################################12:0. AM CDT on Sunday, July 26, 2009 By WENDY HUNDLEY / The Dallas Morning News whundley@dallasnews.com For decades, Huffines Plaza in Lewisville has been an unofficial gathering spot for day laborers. DAVID WOO/DMN Gabriel Cuevas has been a Texas resident for 38 years and lives in Lewisville. He and other day laborers are now looking for work at a convenience store near Huffines Plaza. The shopping center, alon. Interstate 35E near State Highway 121, provides quick and easy access for employers who need an extra hand willing to give a day's work for a day's pay. While this informal employment system seems to have worked for years with few problems, day laborers no longer feel welcome at the plaza, where "no trespassing" signs have been posted recently and police have been asked to start enforcing trespassing laws. City officials say they're trying to help retailers revitalize aging shopping centers, but the displaced workers seem confused by the sudden shift and say they're only trying to support themselves and their families the best way they can. "All the cars would come fro. I-35 and see you. Then they started kicking us out. They didn't want us there," said Carlos Javier, 26. "We're not homeless," unemployed construction worke. Antoni. Aleman said defiantly. "We're looking for work." The "no trespassing" signs were posted at the plaza within days of John Gorena's election to the Lewisville City Council in a June runoff. Gorena, who has been outspoken in his opposition to illegal immigration, declined to speculate on whether there's a connection. "It doesn't matter who gets credit. Something is being done," Gorena said. "I'm satisfied with the direction that we're going. But we have to do more." He said most of the day laborers are here illegally and contribute to growing crime rates, overcrowding of schools and escalating medical costs. But Gorena, who is of Hispanic heritage, also thinks that the day laborers are being exploited by "greed. American employers." He said the "pro-illegal-alien side has lots of money. W. Americans have to stand up and fight." Lewisville Mayor Dea. Ueckert said the police action at the plaza had nothing to do with Gorena's election and the timing was only a coincidence. He said the changes at Huffines Plaza are the result of several years of work by city officials to encourage owners to spruce up aging retail areas. "Lewisville is almost 90 years old, and we're trying to do some revitalization of shopping centers," the mayor said. "They wanted to try to upgrade their shopping center and came to the conclusion they'd like us to ask the day laborers not to congregate on their property." Alfred Goh, property manager for the plaza, could not be reached for comment. Ueckert said the center is not owned by the Huffines family that has area car dealerships. Three years ago, Lewisville officials considered a day-labor center for workers, but the idea was strongly opposed. "If they're legal and they want to find employment, an employment agency is a great place,". Ueckert said. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/localnews/stories/DN-daylabor_26met.ART0.Central.Edition1.4bc95ad.html
Should day laborers be allowed to gather where ever they please? http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/individual/#mapPTXFrom what you hear from conservatives, Texas is supposed to be an entirely conservative states with no liberals. Obama sure won a high % of voters in Texas, as compared to California where Mccain only won 37%.
Do you know that 44% of Texas voted fo. Obama? Whose history is this?*He was born in New Haven Connecticut (but likes to think he was born in Texas) with a golden spoon in his mouth.* Was an alcoholic when he was younger, but claims to have beat it.* Refused to answer reporters questions regarding his cocaine use.* Never ran a successful business in his life, and was put into an ownership position by his father's political allies so it would look like he had actually done something positive in the business world.*Actually lost the presidential election in 2000, but used the Supreme Court and his father's connections to claim the title as his own.
Spent more time on vacation during his two terms in the White House than any president before him.*Turned the 5 Trillion Dollar surplus he inherited into a 9 Trillion Dollar deficit before he left.*Is often ridiculed by both parties for the way his admin handled the Katrina tragedy.*Told his VP Dick Cheney to head up the country'. ENERGY TASK FORCE in Jan of 2001, but never asked to see the results.*Promise to capture Bin Laden, but never did.*Claims that he has made the country safer, but the southern border is still as porous as it was on 9.11.2001, and the 1000s of shipping containers coming in daily arer still going unchecked.*Somehow is oblivious that 9/11 occured on HIS watch.. Is credited with putting this country into the worst recession it has seen since the 30s.* Cut mental health funding more than any president in history.Ok, any educated guesses out there?

can someone PLEASE help me with these social studies questions? they are multiple choice!?!? Michelle Malkin: N. Illega. Alien Left Behindhttp://www.sj-r.com/opinions/x1579116583/Michelle-Malkin-No-Illegal-Alien-Left-BehindI have seen the electoral future, and it is rigged. With fraud-prone, ideologically driven interest groups swarming the census-gathering process, the left is solidifying its chances of a permanent ruling majority. Lax immigration enforcement is the not-so-secret key to the Democrats’ power grab. And th. Obama administration is all too happy to aid and abet.At a meeting to mobilize volunteer trainees assisting with the decennial national headcount, Commerce Secretary Gary Locke encouraged the government’s partners to spread the word that privacy rights of census-takers would not be violated, and that accuracy and fairness would be ensured. Locke assured the activists: “We all recognize what is at stake.”But do you?The volunteer groups Locke is entrusting to protect accuracy and fairness include the voter registration con artists of tax-subsidize. ACORN, the amnesty activists of Voto Latino and the labor bosses of the Servic. Employee. Internationa. Union (SEIU). The fate of $300 billion in federal funding — and, most importantly, the apportionment of congressional seats — rest in their hands. As for “privacy rights,” it’s not your privacy rights they care about. It’s the privacy rights of millions of illegal aliens, whose advocates have enshrined for them a sacred right never to be questioned about their immigration status.Barac. Obama’s census partners are using the process to pressure homeland security agents to halt interior enforcement efforts and workplace raids so that illegal alien cooperation with the national survey is maximized. Inclusion of the massive illegal alien population has resulted in a radical redrawing of the electoral map.The census is used to divvy up seats in the House as a proportion of their population based on the headcount. More people equals more seats. More illegal immigrants counted equals more power. This is not hypothetical. The Center fo. Immigration Studies determined that in the 2000 election cycle, the presence of non-citizens, including illegal immigrants, temporary visitors and green-card holders, caused nine seats in the House to switch hands. As the think tank’s analysis reported: California added six seats it would not have had otherwise. Texas, Ne. York and Florida each gained a seat. Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi. Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin each lost a seat. Montana, Kentucky an. Utah each failed to secure a seat they would otherwise have gained.Translation in plai. English. Open borders have profound consequences. And they don’t end with congressional apportionment. The redistribution of power extends to presidential elections because th. Electoral College is pegged to the size of congressional delegations.Under the Carter administration, the men and women who enforce our immigration laws were ordered not to do their jobs during the census count; non-enforcement was the unspoken policy during the Bush administration in 2000. Bipartisan policy, in other words, was to put political interests above security interests and leave N. Illega. Alien Left Behind.Th. Obama Department of Homeland Security is already continuing the tradition — reversing the work of investigative agents who have uncovered massive document fraud at illegal alien work sites, and cutting immigration and customs enforcement operations at the knees.During the eight years of the Bush administration, groups such a. ACORN received millions of dollars in subsidies. The pro-amnesty faction of the GOP pandered to unions such as the SEIU and ethnic lobbying groups such as Voto Latino seeking to boost their membership rolls. Now Republicans can only stand by helplessly while the political opponents they helped fund use the census to wipe them off the electoral map. You reap what you sow.Michelle Malkin is a columnist for Creators Syndicate.
What do people think about this?Michelle Malkin: N. Illega. Alien Left Behind? After this current election. I find it hard to vote ever again in the future.. I am surrounded by controversy, living in Texas and having liberal parents.. I am liberal as well, but ever sinc. Obama has been elected, the media, the conservatives, and everyone against him have bashed every step he has made. The man can't breathe without someone getting pissed that he's stealing there oxygen.. It just is so hard to believe that the country is splitting like this, especially in such a dyer time.. I want everyone to unite, to coincide with one another and yet it will NEVER happen, even if you McCain lovers think it would have. Both parties love controversy, even if you guys don't think so. Government and politicians thrive on this, it is there fuel.. I have taken history this year in college, and the process has become familiar during struggling times.. I see conservatives continue to bash liberals whenever there in a high position, example president. When Bill Clinton put a very intelligent Hilary in charge of health care reform, what did the conservatives say? Who wants a house wife in charge of such a large duty.. Yes. I know she failed. I don't like her personally, but it happens over and over again.. I'm not saying liberals don't do it either, but this country explodes when liberals have a handle on things.. I'm fu*cking sick of this socialism talk. I'm sick of people bashing every move someone tries to make without seeing the results. Before making your dam decisions, wait for results. Things can change.. I voted fo. Obama, being my first election, an. I believe he can fix our struggling times. Why else woul. I have voted for him?. If he fails, tha. I have made a huge mistake, bu. I have faith. I believe. Because of this past election. I won't ever vote again.. I refuse to surround myself by you sh*t heads that don't know anything about politics ranting about how life is unfair. Read a book, get out, and stop watching fox news.. I HATE POLITICS!. And one last comment, f*uck the media and news organizations. Peace out!
