In the span of only a couple weeks, the dog has gone from JUST FINE to seeming a little sick, to being a little limpy and now has lost his urinary function, and completely drags his back legs. The dog seems in good spirits but isn't eating, and now tries to get up and can't walk at all because his back half doesn't seem to work. There has been no trauma that my friend knows about. He lives in an enclosure in my friends backyard and is supervised daily and has not escaped his pen to get hurt, have a fight with another animal, or to get hit by a car.The vet has tried antibiotics and steroids which improved the situation for a short time then the dog got worse again, and my friend brought him back.
At last diagonsis, there is no fever, the vet says he doesn't act like he is in pain, and nothing suspicious on the Xray, but confirmed that the dog is slowly becoming paralyzed and thinks this is something neurological and recommends an MRI. SInce money is an issue, my friend has been researching options of getting help for her dog, an.
